The Gem Fields QLD

After a roadside overnighter north of Springsure we had 3 nights at Emerald followed by a couple of nights at Rubyvale. This is ground I have covered before but perhaps with a little change of season there is always something new to see and do.

We found a very reasonably priced caravan park on the edge of town in Emerald . They had a communal firepit at happy hour with a duo singing golden oldies each night. They also sold fish and chips at a good price. Always good for a change. We visited the Sunday markets while there. The usual market fare of goods. I picked up a few good novels to keep me going a while.

The caravan park owner at Rubyvale was very welcoming and said it had been very quiet so far this season. His pricing structure may have had a hand in his lack of patronage!

I had been through the tourist mine there so wasn’t going to go again but when Claire said she would they said seeing I had been before I could go in for free. Same tour as last time but with a different guide you always pick up few new bits of information.
