Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)

Kata Tjuta are situated about 50km from Uluru and are stunning in their own right. Like Uluru, there are different viewing platforms for watching the sunrises and the sunsets. Because the sunset tends to throw a better contrast of light and shadows I preferred the sunsets but if you have the opportunity to do both that gives you a better perspective. The sunrise gives you an overall view of the total range that makes up Kata Tjuta while the sunset gives a more “end view” which shows the depth of the mountains.

Sunrise…….

Sunset……….

There are 2 areas that have walking trails. One is The Valley of the Winds Walk and the other is The Walpa Gorge Walk. You know when you get to the top of the Winds Walk when the strong winds that blow up the valleys hit you full on. Breathtaking views. The Gorge Walk also has stunning views and both are well worth doing. Again it is best to tackle these walks in the early morning.
