Most people would be aware that climbing Uluru vis no longer an option. I am not sure I would have anyway but after reading the reasons why climbing was banned a couple of years ago I fully support the ban and the reasons behind it.
The walk around the base is about 10km with a couple of side tracks to points of interest. The walk is easy as it is all flat ground. It’s a big rock and while we really only get the “good” angle in photos of Uluru, the other sides all have interesting shapes and marks that make the walk around interesting and ever changing views. It is best to walk around it first thing in the morning due to the heat but I imagine a walk on sunset would be unique as well.
