After leaving Townsville I spent 3 nights at Woodstock followed by a further 3 nights at Gumlu. Met a couple of guys here who were travelling in separate van and caravan who I met up again with further south in Nebo.
Keeping inland I returned to Nebo for another 2 weeks to just chill out and appreciate the sunshine. This time I had a couple of visits to the local Showground. The first weekend they had a cutout and the following weekend they had a Campdraft. Both were interesting to watch. Cowboy/girl hats and attire everywhere..
After my Nebo sojourn I had a few longer days stopping at Baralaba, Gayndah and Gympie before spending a night with friends at Eumundi. They are also full time travellers who were housesitting here.
After a night at Maroochy River (another favourite spot at a park and boat ramp) I went to Ningi to stay with a distant cousin for the weekend. I had met this line of the family earlier last year in Darwin. I was able to fill in some of the family tree details I am working on. On the Sunday we took a drive up to Kingaroy to the annual Bacon Festival the town puts on. Some 80% of the Queensland pork industry happens within this area. And I thought Kingaroy was only famous for peanuts!
After leaving Ningi I headed into Brisbane and had a night on the beach at Margate and a night at Annerley where I left Rhonda overnight to catch the train down Sydney.
