Books read this month 3 (50)

Only Time Will Tell by Jeffrey Archer.

A Jeffrey Archer classic. I just love the way the storyline evolves and the plots take shape with their twists and turns. The ending ask far more questions than it answers but then you find Archer has written a whole series with this the first in the Clifton Chronicles. Now to hunt down the next book in the series.

Tracks by Robyn Davidson

“The Camel Lady” as she became known, travelled from Alice Springs to the West Coast just south of Carnarvon with just 4 camels and her dog for company. This was back in the early ’70’s. Whilst her adventure is nothing like mine, I found a passage in the book that pretty much summed up feelings I have had along the my 12 month journey. She is reflecting back on grappling with the decision to do her trip or not. “So I had made a decision which carried with it things that I could not articulate at the time. I had made a choice instinctively, and only later had given it meaning…….And it struck me then that the most difficult thing had been the decision to act, the rest had been merely tenacity – and the fears were paper tigers. One really could act to change and control one’s life; and the procedure, the process, was its own reward..

Head over Heels by Sam and Jenny Bailey

Sam was a young invincible 19 year old with the world at his feet when a car accident left him a quadriplegic. Through inner strength, courage and determination, Sam rebuilt his life to become an able farmer, something he had dreamed of his whole life. He loved the land and he loved life. After the accident Sam met and found love with Jenny, an ABC Journalist. They met when she interviewed him for a radio segment. He ultimately proposed, on air. Sam’s story was featured on “Australian Story”. A great read.
