Stawell Vic

Stawell is one of the gateways to The Grampians, a fairly large town half an hour from Halls Gap. I went there one afternoon specifically to see the Stawell Gift Hall of Fame but unfortunately it closed early that day. I was able to walk around the ground where the famous Stawell Gift is run each Easter. The ground is so well manicured that you could play lawn bowls on the surface.

The town has a lot of old buildings and a walk down the main street reveals a plaque dedicated to each years winner of the race that started in 1878. It has run in all but 5 years since then. Only World Wars and Covid have prevented it being run.
