The National Transport Hall of Fame along with the Kenworth and Ghan Railway Museums are all located in the same precinct on the outskirts of Alice Springs. The main reason I put this on my bucket list was because a friends father is in the Hall of Fame. I also found one of my regular clients from my Chauffeur Car days is a Hall of Famer. It was interesting reading all their stories and their contribution to the trucking industry. There are literally hundreds of inductees so while you couldn’t read them all each had an interesting life, especially those from years ago.
It was worth the visit, some interesting old vehicles and some great stories to read about the industry and the different trucking pioneers. A seperate large building housed about 2 dozen Kenworth Prime Movers. Unfortunately the Ghan Railway Museum was closed for renovations at the time. I will call back here when I head south again to see it then.
