Although I lived for a short time in Dorrigo and for a few years in nearby Coffs Harbour, I had never really had a close up look through Dorrigo National Park. I had of course seen it from the outside on a regular basis when I was up and down the mountain.
The powers that be have done a great job of building an information centre, shop and cafe and a skywalk plus other walks throughout the park. The Skywalk is just a $2 donation to enter and gives you a great outlook atop the canopy. Then you can chose from a number of different walks within the park depending on time and energy levels. I did the Lyrebird Link track and part of the Crystal Shower Falls walk.
A great place to spend a couple of hours, half a day or even a full day. Picnic area with BBQ’s are available or the cafe sells good food. I only spent a couple of hours, dodging the occasional shower. And then when the showers stopped the heat can be quite oppressive. Well worth stopping though.
